Salesforce's market cap sits north of $300 billion. Amer Sports — the company behind Arc'teryx and Wilson — is worth roughly $20 billion. A stock comparison site recently dropped them in the same chart as if the only question is which one you'd rather own.

That framing says a lot about how the CRM industry thinks about your problem. It's all market cap and price performance. Nobody's asking whether the thing actually works for a mid-market ops team trying to track a non-linear sales cycle without filing a support ticket every time something changes.

Salesforce isn't a bad product. It's just a $300 billion product built for someone with a $300 billion budget and a dedicated admin team. If you've tried to bend it to fit your process, you already know what that costs — in consultant hours, in workarounds your team quietly builds in spreadsheets, and in the slow leak of customer details that fall through gaps nobody designed intentionally.

The investors are happy with Salesforce. That doesn't mean you should be.
