Microsoft just stacked more AI on top of Dynamics 365 Sales — Copilot agents, omnichannel routing, the works.
Here's what that actually means if you're running mid-market ops: more features bolted onto a platform that already requires a certified consultant to change a pipeline stage. The press release calls it "turning CRM into a revenue engine." What it doesn't mention is the implementation tab that comes with it.
The pattern is familiar. Vendor announces AI-powered everything. Your team spends six months in configuration hell. The consultant invoice arrives before the first deal closes differently than it did before.
If your CRM already fights you on basic workflow changes, adding AI agents doesn't fix the foundation — it just gives you a smarter way to work around the same broken structure. Omnichannel routing sounds great until you realize your customer data is still a mess underneath it.
The ops leaders who actually get value from AI in their sales process are the ones who fixed how their CRM fits their business first. You can't automate a workaround into a win.
Shiny AI features on a rigid platform is still a rigid platform.
