Salesforce just spent billions to buy Contentful, a headless CMS, and bolt it onto Agentforce. The pitch: AI agents that can pull CRM data AND serve up the right content in the same motion.

Here's what actually happened. Salesforce's AI play works fine when your data is clean, your content is structured, and your team has the time to connect everything properly. Contentful adds a content layer so Agentforce agents can theoretically respond to customers with personalized content, not just data lookups. On paper, that's interesting.

For you, the timing is worth noting. If you're already fighting your Salesforce setup — custom objects that don't quite fit, workflows that need a consultant to touch, reports that never show what you actually need — this acquisition adds another layer on top of the existing complexity. More capability isn't the same as more usable.

You've been through enough of these cycles to know that a vendor adding features doesn't fix the underlying problem: the platform still doesn't bend to how your business works. It just gives you more expensive things to configure wrong.

The gap between what Salesforce announces and what a mid-market ops team can actually ship in a week keeps getting wider, not narrower.
