Salesforce just held an event to talk about two new things: something called "Headless 360" and a Slackbot integration. Translation — they're building more architecture on top of architecture, and wrapping it in a chat window so it feels modern.

Headless 360 appears to be a way to decouple the CRM data layer from the front-end experience. In plain terms: a technical workaround for the fact that Salesforce's native interface doesn't fit how most teams actually work. The Slackbot is meant to surface CRM actions inside Slack so your reps don't have to context-switch as often.

Here's what this means if you're running ops at a mid-market company: these features are real, but they're built for teams with developers, architects, and dedicated Salesforce admins to implement them. If you've already spent a year trying to get basic workflow changes pushed through without hiring a consultant, "headless architecture" is not going to make your life easier next quarter.

The pattern keeps repeating — the platform gets more powerful on paper and more complicated in practice, and the gap between what it promises and what your team can actually use without outside help keeps widening.

You've probably been burned enough times to read announcements like this with appropriate skepticism. That instinct is correct.

The most expensive CRM feature is the one that requires three more vendors to actually use.
