Salesforce just spent time at a major investor conference talking to Wall Street analysts about AI agents, platform consolidation, and long-term growth strategy.
That's their actual customer right now. Not you.
Here's what came out of the Jefferies Software conference: Salesforce executives walked through their AI roadmap, pitched Agentforce as the next big thing, and reinforced why enterprise customers should stay inside the Salesforce ecosystem. The message was aimed squarely at investors and Fortune 500 procurement teams — the people who buy software in nine-figure deals and measure success in analyst reports, not closed revenue.
If you're running ops or marketing at a mid-market company, you've probably already learned this the hard way. You paid for the enterprise platform, got the enterprise complexity, and somewhere in month four of your last implementation you realized the roadmap was built for companies three times your size. The features you actually needed were either missing, locked behind a higher tier, or required a certified partner to configure.
Nothing in that conference changes your day-to-day reality. Salesforce's AI bets might pay off in three years for a 2,000-person sales org. That doesn't help you fix the workflow your team is working around right now.
The companies that present to Wall Street and the companies that actually serve your use case have been different companies for a long time — most people just keep hoping that changes.
