Here's what that number doesn't tell you: that billion dollars came largely from enterprise accounts with dedicated Salesforce teams, implementation budgets, and months to configure everything. That's not your situation.

If you're a mid-market ops or marketing leader, Salesforce's win is mostly a reminder of the gap. Their AI roadmap is real, but accessing it still means consultants, licensing tiers, and a configuration process that moves on their schedule — not yours. The "innovation" you're paying for in your subscription is often years away from being something your team can actually use without help.

You've probably already been through at least one cycle of buying into the platform promise, watching costs balloon, and ending up dependent on outside help for changes that should take an afternoon. A record earnings call doesn't fix that dynamic. It usually deepens it.

The bigger a platform gets, the more its roadmap serves its biggest customers — and the further it drifts from how your business actually works.
