Microsoft's Copilot AI is doing something unintentional — it's making bad CRM data impossible to ignore.

Here's what's happening in the Dynamics 365 world: companies are rolling out Copilot expecting productivity wins, and instead they're getting a mirror held up to their data quality. Garbage fields, inconsistent records, half-filled contact logs. The AI doesn't fix any of that. It just amplifies it.

If your CRM has been held together with workarounds and good intentions, AI features won't save you. They'll surface every shortcut your team ever took.

This is the part no one tells you before the Copilot demo: the tool is only as good as the foundation underneath it. If your pipeline stages don't reflect how deals actually move, if your account records are a mess of duplicate entries and missing context — Copilot will confidently summarize all of it and hand you polished nonsense.

You've probably already felt this. Reports that don't tell you what you actually need to know. Reps logging notes wherever is easiest, not wherever is useful. A CRM that was supposed to create clarity and instead created a second job.

The AI wave isn't the problem. It's just the latest thing revealing a problem that was already there.
